Food Causes of inflammatory disease:

Sugar, all MODERN processed foods: refined grains – GMO root cause

Pasteurized modern dairy products, meats and ‘heat-altered’ oils from factory farm animals and farm-raised fish.

Grains that are not properly soaked as well as pasteurized dairy products create excess inflammation in the body. The meat from animals raised in confined animal feeding operations (CAFO) – very high in omega-6 fatty acids and quite low in omega-3 fatty acids.

The typical ratio of fatty acids (3:6) found in factory raised, commercial meats is between 19:1-50:1. Meats from pasture-raised animals have a fatty acid ratio of 1:1-1:2. Refined polyunsaturated vegetable oils are also extremely inflammatory.

Omega-6 fatty acids (found in MODERN vegetables oils like GMO canola and GMO corn) create inflammation, whereas omega-3 fatty acids (fish oils) are anti-inflammatory – which become “pumps” to remove the inflammation.

Introduction

Research evidence has linked long-chain omega-3 (n-3) fatty acid intake to mood [1], an important link since diets can vary greatly in fatty acid content. Fish and shellfish are among the few dietary sources of long-chain n-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), whereas diets rich in meat and poultry are high in the potentially neuro-inflammatory long-chain omega-6 (n-6) fatty acid, arachidonic acid (AA) [2]. Moreover, in omnivores who consume low amounts of fish, the elevated AA to EPA/DHA ratio in the diet is mirrored in membrane phospholipids, a profile associated with depressive symptoms [3]. Omnivorous diets rich in fish are associated with a lower risk of depressive symptoms [4].Vegetarian diets that restrict factory GMO meat, fish, and poultry are low in both long-chain n-3 and n-6 fatty acids as compared to omnivorous diets [5], but there is limited data exploring the effects of a vegetarian diet on mental health.

We recently observed that vegetarians reported better mood than omnivores despite their negligible intake of EPA/DHA [6]; these data suggest that the dietary ratio of long-chain fatty acids may have an effect on mood. This pilot trial examined the mood effects of removing meat, fish, and poultry from the diet of healthy omnivores. We hypothesized that omnivores who avoided intake of meat, fish, and poultry would report better mood than control omnivores who continued to eat meat, fish, and poultry daily.

Conclusions –

Restricting FACTORY meat, fish, and poultry (GMO FED)improved some domains of short-term mood state in MODERN FACTORY GMO PROCESSED (HEAT AND OVER-MILLING)  omnivores. To our knowledge, this is the first trial to examine the impact of restricting GMO Factory meat, fish, and poultry on mood state in omnivores.

When caregiver is perceived solely as the giver of physical care & not of emotional support, because they were not, (by choice or necessity) – the feelings and therefore, the communications will be challenged because of evolution. Because of this, organisms are ‘hardwired’ to be suspicious, not trust those not our own.

AhlAttachment ‘KNITS’ a ‘SECRET CODE of FEELING’ of knowing that the person that we see immediately after birth is trustworthy as long as the “take-turn” communications continues throughout life.

These communications become a natural part of the relationship, (if by necessity or ignorance) – the attachment will be ‘loose” or sporadic. The bond of attachment cannot be formed & until recognized. In cases like this,  the child will view the caregiver as a servant, supplying only the physical needs of the child & not the emotional needs that make a relationship trusting & enduring.

Any comments from the unresponsive caregiver will be viewed as criticism & will be refuted and will feel rejection. ‘Tone’ of communication will be terse, as if commanding a servant – in a discourse  with an enemy or one not bonded. It is not uncommon to have the feeling of abandonment from fear when the child is distressed and the caregiver does not responded to  an infant.

An easy  way to get the omega-3 essential fatty acids to meet body needs is to eat either one tablespoon of cold-pressed flax oil a day or three tablespoons of ground fresh   non-GMO flaxseed (in omelets, soups, etc.) a day, plus 3 or 4 servings of fish a week.

*MODERN Beef, fish, chicken is often “farmed or factory” & fed GMO corn, soy – instead of free range, grass fed. Pasteurization of dairy causes the milk (cheese) proteins to become abnormal, freakish and render them  no long bioavailable.

In the closed system of the body, they will be stored in places in the body. No longer fitting, they cannot be of use for growth or maintenance…

Some men, prone to male pattern baldness, increase their chances of being realizing this pattern male baldness, in proportion to the amount of all-purpose flour pizza dough, waffles/pancakes (with Butterworth-less syrup, Big Macs with the all purpose flour OVER-refined, enriched bun, french fries FRIED IN INFLAMMATORY OMEGA 6 OILS and soda with MODERN ice cream) in the EMPTY processed tasty foods the they love to consume.

Also, some evidence indicates AA affects the part of the hair follicle associated with hair color. Hair that has turned gray may not be affected.Alopecia areata is not contagious.[2] It occurs more frequently in people who have affected family members, suggesting heredity may be a factor.[2]

Strong evidence of genetic association with increased risk for AA was found by studying families with two or more affected members. This study identified at least four regions in the genome that are likely to contain these genes.[11] In addition, it is slightly more likely to occur in people who have relatives with autoimmune diseases.[5]

The condition is thought to be a systemic autoimmune disorder in which the body attacks its own anagen hair follicles and suppresses or stops hair growth.[2] For example, T cell lymphocytes cluster around affected follicles, causing inflammation and subsequent hair loss. A few cases of babies being born with congenital AA have been reported, but these are not cases of autoimmune disease, because an infant is born without a definitely developed immune system.

Secure vs. Insecure Attachment

Inspired by: http://www.fcs.uga.edu/ext/bbb/attachSecure.php

Through repeated positive experiences with a caregiver, consistently responding in a “take turns” fashion, infants develop a secure attachment to that person. Infants who are securely attached have learned to trust that other people will take care of them.

Infants whose experiences with a caregiver does not respond or meet the emotional needs or unpredictable are more likely to develop an insecure attachment. Children who are insecurely attached have learned that adults are not reliable, and do not trust easily.

Children who are securely attached tend to:

  • have less extreme reactions to stress
  • be more willing to try new things and to explore independently
  • be better problem solvers
  • form better relationships with others without having to refute or argue

Children who are insecurely attached may:

  • refuse to interact with others, refute or challenge instead of “take turns”
  • avoid other people
  • exaggerate distress
  • show anger, anxiety or fear

It is important to remember that attachment security is not the only factor that affects children’s relationships with other people. A variety of other influences — including individual personality differences and cultural norms — also affect a child’s process for relating to others, responding to stress and solving problems, and managing emotions.

The Role of Experience in Brain Development

EXPERIENCE SCULPTS THE BRAIN’

Dr Dan Siegel – Interpersonal Neurobiology-

Experience is an essential component of brain development. A child’s specific experiences determine which connections are strengthened and expanded, and which connections are eliminated

  • Connections that are used repeatedly become stronger.
  • Connections that are not used are eventually lost to pruning.
  • Repetition is important because it provides the child with multiple opportunities to strengthen connections.
  • Developmental Stages (Wikipedia)

The four development stages are described in Piaget’s theory as:I8 months the hippocampus begin functioning….start to process memories to the new memories to the episodical  autobiographical memory in the right hemisphere…before 18 months stored in the conscious memory.

  • Sensorimotor stage: from birth to age 2. Children experience the world through movement and senses (use five senses to explore the world). During the sensorimotor stage children are extremely egocentric, meaning they cannot perceive the world from others’ viewpoints.
  • At I8 months the hippocampus begins functioning. It starts to process memories to the new memories to the episodical  autobiographical memory in the right hemisphere…before 18 months stored in the conscious memory.
  • The sensorimotor stage is divided into six substages:                                              “(1) simple reflexes; (2) first habits and primary circular reactions; (3) secondary circular reactions; (4) coordination of secondary circular reactions; (5) tertiary circular reactions, novelty, and curiosity; and (6) internalization of schemes.”[14]
  • Concrete operational stage-(pre-adolescent) from ages 7 to 11 (children begin to think logically but are very concrete in their thinking). Children can now conserve and think logically but only with practical aids. They are no longer egocentric.
  • Formal operational stage: adolescent stage from age 11-16 and onwards (development of abstract reasoning). Children develop abstract thought and can easily conserve and think logically in their mind.

Child Development Principles

Child development refers to the way a child grows and learns. There are four areas, or domains, of child development:

  • Physicalthe development and growth of the child’s body, muscles, and senses. Whole plant based proteins for brain development. This environment begins at conception.
  • Emotionalthe child’s awareness of self, how the child feels about himself, expression of feelings and how he helps care for himself. Through secure attachment, a child learns to trust others. At 18 months, the hippocampus goes on line. The hippocampus begin functioning. It starts to process memories to the new memories to the episodical  autobiographical memory in the right hemisphere before 18 months stored in the conscious memory.

Functions  Frontal Lobes – Biology – About.com

  • The prefrontal cortex has long been suspected to play an important role in cognitive control, in the ability to orchestrate thought and action in accordance with internal goals. Its neural basis, however, has remained a mystery. Here, we propose that cognitive control stems from the active maintenance of patterns of activity in the prefrontal cortex that represent goals and the means to achieve them. They provide bias signals to other brain structures whose net effect is to guide the flow of activity along neural pathways that establish the proper mappings between inputs, internal states, and outputs needed to perform a given task. We review neurophysiological, neurobiological, neuro-imaging, and computational studies that support this theory and discuss its implications as well as further issues to be addressed

The skills and knowledge that children develop early in his life are the foundation for more advanced skills and knowledge. If the Binary Hunter Gather (brain stem) primal skills are not (“tied with strings & sealed with sealing wax”- Puff the Magic Dragon – Jackie Papers)

The trajectory of a child’s life will be set for more selfishness than compassion, more pride that humility, more prejudice & other clannish behavior.

Children develop in a predictable order, from simple to more complex skills. They learn by doing, and practice new skills through play. Play is a critical opportunity for children to practice new skills & manufacture endorphins.

Many factors influence child development: nurture needs nature – heredity, family, and community. Children’s early experiences will affect them now and in the future. Children must have their basic needs met, feel safe, and feel valued in order to develop and learn.

Attachment is a lasting, close emotional (chemical/neurological)  connection between two people — in this case, an adult and an infant.  Attachments begin developing at birth through one-to-one “take-turns” interactions between adults and infants. For a secure attachment, the adult must respond consistently with positive tone.    Early interactions shape the wiring in the brain and establish patterns of trust to  develop relationships as she grows older.

Early positive interactions are essential to healthy attachment because the brain is developing rapidly during the first year. Infants who form secure attachments develop wiring in the brain that supports their ongoing ability to form healthy relationships.  Children whose earliest attachments are negative or insecure may have continuing difficulty developing healthy relationships.

Insecure attachment results Binary Hunter Gather brain (stem) being the predominate filter of thought  all lifelong. The connecting fibers are  weld  by (often because of abuse, alcoholism or innocent neglect out of poverty or  other trauma)  Beyond the Binary Hunter Gather mentality is PMC cortexes or prefrontal cortex where temporal urges,  desires & excess pleasure are mediated went those thoughts are PAUSED and intentioned through the higher brain.  In ‘Insecure attachment’  this process is not encourage new new neural fibers fail to grow toward the faculties of the upper brain.

If “taking turns” infant to adult fails, the child is is damned to a life of “DISTORTED THOUGHT” – Dr. David Burns Research-(MENTAL ILLNESS – DEFINED)

Unlinked thoughts (taking turns) remain in the brain stem (Binary Hunter Gather) unless awareness, will (reason to change)-

MINDFULNESS – COAL:  Curiosity, Openness, Awareness, Love….Dr Dan Siegel

As the infant brain develops, neural growth of connecting fibers from low Binary Hunter Gather brain & stem to the “later evolved” Prefrontal, Midbrain, Cerebral cortexes. Unless secure attachment communicating:  “taking turns communication,” consistently responding to infant sounds, striving to control to build trust to prevent failure to thrive” takes place. Wiring to create connecting fibers into the higher Midbrain, Prefrontal and Cerebral cortex or the communication level remains at the Binary (HG) level.

The behavior of  pre-adolescent developmental stage: pride and “extra sensitive” feelings, judgement of other based on presumption, envy, jealousy, greed,”is where attachment is important on pruning these selfish behaviors to an adult compassionate mind set.

As a child develops how a child is praised for specific behavior and effort and not always told generally “you are good”.  Ignoring behaviors that do not serve, quickly prune them  so they do not grow into maturity.  Meltdowns are easy and quick ways to get attention.   A child with a failed attachment may be disrespectful, talk back (refute), lie, sense unfairness, be suspicious the person who is the caregiver.

The pre-adolescent behavior due to insecure attachment often trust  does not develop,  distorted thinking of the Binary HG brain remains the “go to” communication style.  Social behavior, etiquette does not form as in that of a “secure attachment.”

Understanding the importance of awareness, mindfulness & linkage is the difference between a skillfully knit garment & a tattered garment. – a patient and responsive relationship or a dysfunctional one.

Anxious – Ambivalent characteristics:

The Anxious – Ambivalent style involves inconsistence in feeling for another.  This type of insecurely attached are often overly invested in a relationship and, thus, exhibit a lot of jealousy & striving for control & fear of abandonment or may attempt to punish or blame the partner, if that control is not completely successful…& will view the parent  as a person (not securely attached)….They don’t “like” those from “off”  & are suspicious of them, mostly on guard to point out imperfections & “ I never heard of that behavior,” talk bad about them to others, tend to be combative, frequent refuting of their opinion Instead of finding ways to engage in a meaningful conversation,  Think in terms of “black or white” no allowance or forgiveness, rigid,

Difficult to switch gears, especially if an Fixed Action Pattern has been created….

The Anxious-Ambivalent attachments tend to have lower self-esteem…or are pompous to cover over it & compensate for it.

With romantic relationships, they like physical contact, but often have problems with actual behavior….often, the drive their partner away by smothering & inconsistent behavior

(Partner is expected to be “on” always, giving full attention.)

Examples:

AA will say “what” to make partner repeat, will refuse (ignore) to answer a simple question, i.e. What time is it or what is the temperature??  Seem to want assurance that they are still “in control”  and bring attention by expecting the partner to repeat… (or are they reaching out for a “take turns” relationship…

Anxious Ambivalent (AA) needs to be early or on time…..Excessively anxious when it appears that this will not happen…

Change in schedule:  Anxiousness, has become a “fixed action pattern”

“Toggle switch” thinking and may refuse to change at all….or will need much time to readjust & the internal schedule-Insists on a clean house & hot meals on schedule on their behalf., but does not participate in picking after their self,  cleaning or cooking–(TV & paper reading until bedtime. That would require full attention & a “taking turns.”

Style of normal communication:

Secure attachment communication is listening & responding to other’s thoughts

Insecure attachment communication:

Instead of taking “turns” in communication, refuting partners ideas. thoughts, etc. Instead of acknowledging and responding -‘refuting’ becomes an obstacle and a natural default mechanism. It becomes an hindrance to preparing for intimacy.  (Offers to participate in “other” partners projects are rejected).  Communication to date is just to cave or to confront.  The more this is done, the more the dysfunctional behavior is encouraged

This is called ‘enabling’ addictive behavior…& Works  against their recovery to a more normal social style of communication of “taking turns”, listening  and then responding is demonstrates that the insecure attached “perceives” that behavior of those from “off” is not trustworthy, unreliable and will not immediately be received.

These conclusion are drawn from Binary Hunter Gather thinking (Distorted Thinking by David Burns), that “if I think it, it is the truth”.

Binary Hunter Gather behavior gone uncorrected, left over from the “pre-adolescent” stage. (Piaget: ages 6 -12)

This mentality was a prevalent way of thinking prior to the Crucifixion – 0 B.C.  It was in Christ’s trial & Passion – an example-

Behavior is exhibited in the form of a terse, anxious tone because primal, underdeveloped brain filters are habituated to reject or question anyone believed to be from “off”,  even though it is a parent.  Neurologically if parent fails to connect and respond in”take turns” style  an insecure attachment will result because the mentality of a child behavior is perpetuated.  The brain must be fire new neurons & weld the new behavior over the old or the old uncorrected primal behavior will remain intact.  The primal behavior will seem secure to the individual and they will defend it and not see a need for growth of the neural fibers to integrate into the “high road”mid and cerebral cortex of the prefrontal brain.  They will never know or experience the effect of the Insula, because the fibers of integration of the old reptilian brain and the new brain (prefrontal).

Binary Mind is  not connected  to the Prefrontal cortexes above, but urges can be  moderated by pausing so the midbrain can bring them to ‘consciousness’ and moderate them in the prefrontal brain.

Binary Mind bends truth (often counter to the  psyche to pursue pleasure or need)

Binary brain is hardwired with a strong sex drive for the survival of the species-

Binary mind is  selfish-not altruistic, not compassionate to others outside his tribe..

Binary mind decision making is often based on presumption (which is only a thin slice of Truth)…As a result,  feelings get hurt which leads to anger, distrust, prejudice, hatred & other sins.

Binary mind’s consciousness-surviving on innate  “animal instincts” unless the fibers of the “low brain” are integrated into the “high brain” —midbrain & cerebral cortex structures through mindful awareness of the low brain function.

Without integration of the neural fibers the thoughts will stay dysfunctional in the primal binary brain.

Distorted Thought Mentality of the Binary Brain Stem – Disconnected from the Prefrontal Brain (often due to INSECURE ATTACHMENT)-

Mentality to be corrected age 6 – 12 to develop compassion.takes practice for it to shape it into an appropriate social context…(Prefrontal is not fully developed until mid 20’s

2. Overgeneralization: You view a negative event as a never ending pattern of defeat – Everything or Everybody.

3. Mental filter: You dwell on the negatives and ignore the positives. Septum.-not being used..

4. Discounting the positives: You insist that your accomplishments or positive qualities don’t count. Septum not being used..or fully employed…

5. Jumping to conclusions: (A) Mind reading – you assume that people are reacting negatively to you when there’s no definite evidence of this; (B) Fortune Telling – you arbitrarily predict that things will turn out badly.   Presuming and not pausing and  diverting thoughts to septum-

6. Magnification or minimization: You blow things way up out of proportion or you shrink their importance inappropriately.  shooting from the hip – hippocampus,,,Sapolsky

7. Emotional reasoning : You reason from how you feel: “I feel like an idiot, so I really must be one.”  Primal…presuming a not true with only a small slice of truth..

8. Should statements: You criticize yourself or other people with ‘shoulds’ or ‘shouldn’ts.’ ‘Musts,’, ‘Oughts,’ and ‘have to’s’ are similar offenders..Control..Barking commands

9. Labeling: You identify with your shortcomings. Instead of saying “I made a mistake,” you tell yourself, “I’m a jerk,” or “a loser.” Septum not braking..as it should…

10. Personalization and blame: You blame yourself for something you weren’t entirely responsible for, or you blame other people and overlook ways that your own attitudes and behavior might contribute to a problem…. Pride…protect feelings from getting wounded…tissue paper feelings…meltdown in children.-chose not to control.

Characteristics of Ambivalent Attachment

  • Ambivalently attached children usually become very distressed when a parent leaves. This attachment style is considered relatively uncommon, affecting an estimated 7-15% of U.S. children. Research suggests that ambivalent attachment is a result of poor maternal availability – inconsistent response to a child. These children cannot depend on their mother (or caregiver) to be there when the child is in need.

Characteristics of Avoidant Attachment

  • Children with an avoidant attachment tend to avoid parents or caregivers. When offered a choice, these children will show no preference between a caregiver and a complete stranger. Research has suggested that this attachment style might be a result of abusive or neglectful caregivers. Children who are punished for relying on a caregiver will learn to avoid seeking help in the future.

Characteristics of Disorganized Attachment –

  • People with a disorganized attachment style typically experienced childhood trauma or extreme inconsistency growing up. Disorganized attachment is not a mixture of avoidant and ambivalent attachments; rather, a person has no real coping strategies and is unable to deal with the world.

** What happens to children who do not form secure attachments?

Research suggests that failure to form secure attachments early in life can have a negative impact on behavior in later childhood and throughout the life.

Children diagnosed with oppositional-defiant disorder (ODD), conduct disorder (CD) or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) frequently display attachment problems, possibly due to early abuse, neglect or trauma. Clinicians suggest that children adopted after the age of six months have a higher risk of attachment problems.

While attachment styles displayed in adulthood are not necessarily the same as those seen in infancy, research indicates that early attachments can have a serious impact on later relationships. For example, those who are securely attached in childhood tend to have good self-esteem, strong romantic relationships and the ability to self-disclose to others. As adults, they tend to have healthy, happy and lasting relationships. For more information, see this article on attachment styles.
