Go Nutty, But Not Too Nutty! https://www.caltonnutrition.com/nuts/
Good science??
So many people love nuts and use them as their “go-to” snack ) ~Additionally, most people think of nuts as a “healthy” snack, but are they?
The answer is if they are PROCESSED to PRESERVE the Vitamins, Minerals, Macronutrient, Micronutrients & not Heated to Destroy the Omega 3 & EQUALLY IMPORTANT ~ The ‘Nature’s Protective AntiNutrients are Soaked to make them CLEAN!
Remember, nutritionists, look at everything through our micronutrient sufficiency glasses ~ Meaning we determine whether a food is “healthy” based on the ‘science behind’ ~
What is studied ~ Does the food have the ability to deliver meaningful amounts of essential micronutrients?
Does the food decrease micronutrient status due to any potentially harmful or micronutrient depleting ingredients such as GMO processing for SHELF LIFE ~ GMO (Magnify the food (making it no longer bioavailable & not able to feed the word ~ OTHER MODERN PROCESSED ~ Heat-altering & Over-Milling ~ Process that STRIP OR DESTROY the Omega 3 ~ Brain food ~ Also the pesticides, anti-nutrients or cause an imbalance of essential fatty acids?
Are they soaked (nut bags can speed up the cleaning time) to remove Oxalic acid, Phytic acid, Lectins, Tannins, and Trypsin Inhibitors ~ Naturally occurring anti-nutrients that are ‘Disease-Causing’ when Roasted, left on the food by Modern CAFO-GMO UNCLEAN processes ~
To start with nuts/seeds contain 5 different anti-nutrients. They contain Oxalic acid, Phytic acid, Lectins, Tannins, and Trypsin Inhibitors ~ each of these naturally occurring compounds deplete a wide array of essential micronutrients your body needs to obtain and achieve optimal health.
To put that into perspective that is more than any other single food in the world! (That we are currently aware of)
Now, we are not going to go into each and every one of these micronutrient depleting anti-nutrients here, but you can read all about them starting on page 70 in The Micronutrient Miracle. Here is a short excerpt about just one of these micronutrient depleters to give you an idea of what we are talking about.
“Lectins are a plant’s most powerful weapon.
Believe it or not, plants have evolved to protect them from being eaten!!
A plant’s goal is self-preservation & lectins are its ‘premier defense’ system. Lectins are sticky proteins that coat your intestinal tract, making it difficult to properly absorb micronutrients.
While micronutrient loss is our key concern ~ It is also important to understand the other ways that lectins can negatively affect our health.
Lectins (in the peel) make us fat in two unique ways.
First, they attach to insulin receptors on fat cells. Remember, insulin is the fat-storage hormone. And once attached, lectins never detach, indefinitely telling the fat cell to store more fat!
To add insult to injury, lectins also attach themselves to the receptor sites for leptin, the hormone that tells your brain when you are full & blocks its effect on satiety. The end result is that you are prone to overeating because you never get full and more of what you eat gets stored as body fat.
That harmless bowl of lectin-containing Roasted or not Soaked) ~ nuts over cocktails hardly seems harmless anymore, does it?
Lectins also aid in the creation of leaky gut by binding to your intestinal walls and acting like chisels, forcing apart the cells that protect the rest of you from the undigested foods inside. Many food allergies are actually immune system reactions to lectins.”
In addition to anti-nutrients ~ Recognize what Modern processes promote INFLAMMATION!
While some of the micronutrient depleting effects of these anti-nutrients can be greatly reduced by soaking and/or sprouting your nuts and seeds, these handy snacks are also full of another public enemy – pro-inflammatory omega 6 fatty acids.
Most people have heard that the American diet is much too high in omega 6’s (some research shows ratios as high as 25:1) The fact is, a high omega 6 diet can cause inflammation and, inflammation has been linked to many of the most debilitating health conditions and disease including heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
Many people spend a lot of money on what is thought to be a ‘really high quality’ omega 3 supplement to offset their higher levels of omega 6 ~ but is that really possible? especially since SUPPLEMENTS Lack ~ Macronutrients, Micronutrients, Phytochemicals, Vitamins, Minerals Fiber & Seafood protein~
A little research ~ one can quickly see how much omega 3 (CNS & Prefrontal Mind food) and omega 6 (Body-only Inflammatory in EXCESS) favorite nuts and seeds contain.
Four tips you need to know now before choosing another nut butter.
Just the mention of peanut butter and jelly conjures up fond childhood memories. When it comes to these comfort food condiments, picking the right ones is far from child’s play. There are four things you need to keep in mind when choosing the best nut butter.
Read Ingredients Carefully ~ Always read the ingredients. There is no reason for added sugars, oil or preservatives. Plain and simple is always best!
Go Organic! (BUT Don’t necessarily ‘trust’ labels’ – until GMO is banned & labels are regulated & CAN BE INFORCED ~
Sprouting Is Key (use a ‘nut bag’ – to soak with a medium & change saltwater often ~ to stir up the ‘dirt’ & rinse to CLEAR & CLEAN!
Find a nut butter, like those we suggest in Rich Food Poor Food, made from ‘sprouted nuts’ ~
‘Roasted’ peanut butter & the nut butter ~ (CAFO-GMO HEAT-ALTERING PROCESS) WILL DESTROY the Omega 3 & do not remove the ‘disease-causing’ ANTI-NUTRIENTS – CAUSING PEANUT & OTHER NUT ALLERGIES~
Remember, peanuts are considered plant seeds & when a plant seed undergoes germination through sprouting or soaking, a lot of beneficial changes occur ~ The phytic acid (EMD) that they naturally contain is broken down, which makes them far less micronutrient depleting ~ Also, some of the trypsin inhibitors, meant to protect them from insects become inactivated.
This is great news because these same trypsin inhibitors can also prevent enzymes from digesting protein in the human digestive tract.
This burdens the pancreas and is thought to perhaps cause pancreatic cancer.
Finally, sprouted nuts have increased the availability of vitamins and minerals, which, after all, makes them our Rich Food choice.
