“IT IS” ABOUT “TASTE”…BUT “INTELLIGENT TASTE” THAT FEEDS MORE THAN JUST THE TONGUE & TASTE BUDS ONLY…
http://guayaki.com/mate/130/Yerba-Mate.html

Yerba mate (yer-bah mah-tay) is made from the naturally caffeinated and nourishing leaves of the celebrated South American rainforest holly tree (HOLY TREE)…(Ilex paraguariensis).
For centuries, South America’s Aché Guayakí tribe have sipped yerba mate from a traditional mate gourd for its rejuvenative effects. These rainforest people find tremendous invigoration, focus, and nourishment in yerba mate.

The leaves of the rainforest mate tree naturally contain 24 vitamins and minerals, 15 amino acids, abundant antioxidants. In fact, The Pasteur Institute and the Paris Scientific society in 1964 concluded “it is difficult to find a plant in any area of the world equal to mate in nutritional value” and that yerba mate contains “practically all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life.”
Yerba mate contains caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine, well-known stimulants also found in tea, coffee and chocolate.  The caffeine content varies between that of green tea and coffee.  Unlike tea, yerba mate has a low tannin content so it can be strong like coffee with out becoming extremely bitter.  Unlike coffee, yerba mate is not oily and acid forming, so it is less likely to cause stomach acid and jitters.
Yerba mate is very versatile and can be prepared a variety of ways, from a tea infuser or French press to a coffee machine, even an espresso maker.  It can be consumed hot, or cold, and served with milk and honey or iced with lemon and mint, the combinations are endless.

Yerba mate, is a shade subtropical. Like high quality coffee, high quality mate is shade-grown; delivering more flavor and containing more medicinal and nutritional properties than the commercially grown, sun farmed varieties. It thrives in its natural rainforest environment located between the 10th and 30th parallels, in high humidity with up to 1500 mm of annual rainfall.

Yerba mate is the national drink of Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Southern Brazil where it is consumed 6 to 1 over coffee.   In Argentina, over 90% of the people drink yerba mate with a gourd and bombilla.

IT IS ABOUT “TASTE”…BUT INTELLIGENT TASTE THAT FEEDS “MORE THAN JUST THE TONGUE”….TASTE BUDS ONLY.

There are 196 volatile (or active) chemical compounds found in the Yerba Mate plant. Of those, 144 are also found in green tea. Yerba Mate contains 11 polyphenols…

In a nutshell, eating whole foods (fruits and vegetables) containing vitamins and antioxidants proves more beneficial than supplementing with pills or sports drink!…lots of caffeine…

In addition to polyphenols, Yerba Mate leaves contain saponins (In fact, one recent study yielded 3 new saponins in the Yerba Mate leaf!) Saponins are phytochemicals that have been found to specifically stimulate the immune system and aid the body in protecting against disease.
They possess significant anti-inflammatory properties.
The immune system, a critical collection of biological structures and processes, is important to keep as strong as possible. With so many medications being prescribed for immune disorders these days; write yourself off of that e-prescribing program and consider Yerba Mate as a natural way to strengthen your body’s defense.

In 2005, researchers at the University of Illinois studied 25 different types of mate. They found the tea to contain “higher levels of antioxidants than green tea”… and, based on cell studies, “may help prevent oral cancer.”
Other studies have shown yerba mate to possess up to 90% more metabolism-boosting nutrients than green tea!
Our studies show that some of the most important antioxidant enzymes in the body are induced by this herbal tea. –

Mate also contains high concentrations of inorganic compounds.
The minerals aluminum, chromium, copper, iron, manganese, nickel, potassium, & zinc are of particular interest due to their importance in human metabolism and development.

Each infusion of Mate contains:
Vitamins: A, C, E, B1, B2, Niacin (B3), B5, B Complex
Minerals: Calcium, Manganese, Iron, Selenium, Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorus
Additional Compounds: Fatty Acids, Chlorophyll, Flavonols, Polyphenols,
Trace Minerals,
Antioxidants,
Pantothenic Acid
& 15 Amino Acids. PLANT PROTEIN…

Polyphenols are a group of phytochemicals.
Phytochemicals (phyto- meaning plant) are recently-discovered compounds that act as powerful antioxidants and are considered to exhibit anti-cancer effects in mammals by strengthening an organism’s natural defenses and protecting it against cellular destruction (i.e. lycopene in tomatoes, flavonoids in blueberries, and isoflavones in soy).
The polyphenol concentration of Mate has also shown a strong correlation to its overall antioxidant capacity. Furthermore, polyphenolic compounds found in Mate tea differ significantly from green tea because Mate tea contains high concentration of chlorogenic acid and no catechins.

As a result, mate consumption complements green/black tea use quite well.

Studies have linked dietary levels of antioxidants,
Such as vitamins E or C, beta-carotene or lycopene, with a lower risk of cancer and heart disease.
Research has shown little if any risk reduction with pill supplements containing these antioxidants in isolated pure forms.
Researchers believe the health benefits of antioxidants, in fact, may be due to their particular forms in foods, to other substances found in foods, and/or their interactive effects or synergy within the natural plant.

According to Dr. Mowrey, Director of Mountainwest Institute of Herbal Sciences, one group of investigators from the Pasteur Institute and the Paris Scientific Society concluded that Yerba Mate contains “practically all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life.”
They focused especially on Pantothenic Acid, remarking that it is “rare to find a plant with so much of this significant and vital nutrient. . .

It is indeed “difficult to find” a plant in any area of the world
Equal to Mate in nutritional value.”

In addition, results from a study done by researchers at the University of Madrid assert a high content of mineral elements, especially K, Mg, and Mn, in Mate.

They considered those findings “to be of great relevance” to the nutritional value of Mate infusions.

Health benefits of olives
“There are no nutritional differences between green and black olives. Olives are endowed with high amounts of good monounsaturated fat and minerals, such as iron and copper. They’re also rich in vitamin E, polyphenols and flavonoids, which are antioxidants [that] have anti-inflammatory benefits.”Mar 23, 2016

What’s The Difference Between Green And Black Olives, Anyway …

• Traditionally, olives have been viewed as a very healthy food. Beside providing energy, they compose of significant amounts of plant-derived anti-oxidants, minerals, phyto-sterols, and vitamins.
• Olives are a moderate source of calories; 100 g of fruits carry just 115 calories. Their calorie content basically comes from fats. Nonetheless, the fruit composes healthy fat in the form of mono-unsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) like oleic acid (18:1) and palmitoleic acid (16:1) that help lower LDL or “bad cholesterol” and increase HDL or “good cholesterol” in the blood. Research studies suggest that Mediterranean diet which is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids help to prevent coronary artery disease and strokes by favoring healthy blood lipid profile.
• Olive fruit contains tyrosol phenolic compounds such as oleuropein and oleocanthal. These compounds are responsible for its bitter and pungent taste. Oleocanthal, oleurpein, and its derivative hydroxytyrosol are nature’s most powerful anti-oxidants. Together with vitamin E and carotenoids, they play a vital role fighting against cancer, inflammation, coronary artery disease, degenerative nerve diseases, diabetes…etc.
• Studies suggest that oleocanthal has ibuprofen (NSAID) like ant-inflammatory activities. Mediterranean diet that uses olive and its oil may be responsible in part for the lower incidences of coronary artery disease.
• Olive contains a good amount of vitamin E. 100 g of cured, and canned fruits provide 1.65 mg (11% of RDA) of alpha-tocopherol. Vitamin E is a powerful lipid soluble antioxidant, required for maintaining the integrity of cell membrane of mucusa and skin by protecting it from harmful oxygen-free radicals.
• In addition, they contain good amounts of minerals like calcium, copper, iron, manganese, and zinc. Further, they are small sources of B-complex vitamins such as niacin, choline, and pantothenic acid.
• Oil expressed from these fruits is recognized as one of the healthiest edible oils since it contains less saturated fat, and composes linoleic (omega-6) and linolenic acid (omega-3) essential fatty acids at the recommended 8:1 ratio.
IT IS NOT TO BE “FRIED OR HEATED”
OR OIL TURNS TO SATURATED FAT…MUCH LIKE MOTOR OIL…
NO LONGER BIO-AVAILABLE…(NO LONGER USEFUL TO THE BODY…
IT BECOMES A “STORAGE DILEMA”…”TEMPORARY” STORAGE IN SKIN…JOINTS..HEART & THE “MOST EMPTY”…THE BRAIN…
EXCESS BECOME MEMORY DYSFUNCTION..

Olives are very high in vitamin E and other powerful antioxidants. Studies show that they are good for the heart, and may protect against osteoporosis and cancer. The healthy fats in olives are extracted to produce extra virgin olive oil, one of the key components of the incredibly healthy Mediterranean diet.
